Gladiator (1992)

This is a movie about two inner city kids, a white Irish kid named Tommy Riley (James Marshall) and Black kid Abraham Lincoln Haines (Cuba Gooding Jr.) are rivals in school because of race issues. But they are forced to look away from the issue as both have to rise above a real, scumbag boxing promoter Jimmy Horn (Brian Dennehy) as both of them fight their way through it in an underground boxing promotion. Tommy is forced to fight because of his father's (John Heard) gambling problems and Lincoln because of his girlfriend and child. The problem is some believe Tommy shouldn't fight because he is a very bright kid despite living in the south side of Chicago. If you like boxing movies like Rocky and Price Of Glory (which stars Jon Seda, who also stars in this film) then you might enjoy this one. You have to remember not to confuse this one with the Russel Crowe film of the same name. This movie has some great fight action and some blood and a decent story to go along with it. I give it Two And The Half Stars Out Of Five
