It's the movie that further solidified Eminem's career as the top MC and brought back Brittany Murphy's (Clueless) career. Consider this movie the rap version of Rockstar featuring Mark Walhberg and the movie that made 50 Cent want to make a movie. It's about a kid living inside the 8 mile road trailer parks who dreams of being a MC to support his little sister Lily and hopefully get out of Detroit. He has to deal with a lot from a slutty mother played by Kim Basinger (The Perfect Getaway) and her boyfriend Greg (Michael Shannon) who graduated wit Rabbit (Eminem). After being humiliated by freezing up on a battle, Rabbit vows to get better and things start to look up when he meets Alex (Murphy) and he starts to win battles. I thought this movie was an absolute classic and it sort of reflects Eminem's real story of his life and how he became who he was. You also have to know that this was the first of it's kind for the Hip Hop genre and blew away all expectations. The movie also stars Mekhi Phifer (O), Omar Benson Miller (The Express), and Evan Jones (The Book Of Eli) as Eminem's crew, and a powerful performance as well from Anthony Mackie (We Are Marshall) as a rival MC Papa Doc. I give this Four Stars Out Of Five
